Cerebral hemodynamics of experimental cerebral embolization.

چکیده
THE cerebral hemodynamies of cerebrovaseular disease are not well understood. One limitation to their physiologic evaluation is the marked variability of human cerebrovascular disease. Important variations include the nature of the acute episode (i.e., thrombosis, embolus, hemorrhage with or without cerebral infarction) ; the amount of underlying cerebrovascular disease; the presence and degree of complicating diseases, such as congestive heart failure, and the length of time between the occurrence of an acute cerebrovascular accident and the time of study. Some of these variations can be obviated by the study of experimentally produced vascular accidents in an appropriate laboratory animal. This study deals with the changes in cerebral blood flow, cerebrovascular resistance and cerebral oxygen consumption in dogs occurring as a result of experimentally produced cerebral emboli.

Blood pressure changes in feeders to cerebral arteriovenous malformations during therapeutic embolization.
We recorded blood pressures in feeding arteries of cerebral arteriovenous malformations with microcatheters before, during, and after embolization in awake patients. Our embolization results corroborate reports of intraoperative measurements that show an immediate increase in blood pressure after ligation. Demonstration of abrupt hemodynamic changes gives additional credence to the theory of no...
متن کاملLaboratory simulations and training in endovascular embolotherapy with a swine arteriovenous malformation model.
We assessed the suitability of a swine experimental arteriovenous malformation model for laboratory simulations and training in endovascular embolotherapy. Embolizations with liquid glue or particles were performed in 10 animals. The parameters of injection (microcatheter position, concentration and volume of embolic agent, injection rate) were deliberately varied to simulate results that may b...
متن کاملComparison effect of pentobarbital sodium with chloral hydrate anesthesia on post-ischemic damage in an experimental model of focal cerebral ischemia
Introduction: Anesthetic agents, blood pressure, arterial pH and blood gases have found to influence on the pathophysiology of experimental stroke. Despite, there are very few comparative studies about effects of anesthetic agents in animal model of cerebral ischemia. Therefore, in this study, we investigated the effects of chloral hydrate and pentobarbital anesthesia, as comparative study, on...
متن کاملThe Experimental Study of Increased ICP on Cerebral Hemorrhage Rabbits with Magnetic Induction Phase Shift Method
Introduction Measuring magnetic induction phase shift (MIPS) changes as a function of cerebral hemorrhage volume has the potential for being a simple method for primary and non-contact detection of the occurrence and progress of cerebral hemorrhage. Our previous MIPS study showed that the intracranial pressure (ICP) was used as a contrast index and found the primary correlation between MIPS and...

Background and Aim: Diabetes Mellitus (DM) increases the risk of ischemic cerebrovascular diseases two- to four folds as compared to people without diabetes. Macrovascular disease is the leading cause of death among patients with diabetes mellitus. Transcranial Doppler (TCD) is a noninvasive procedure used to assess the hemodynamic changes in Middle Cerebral Artery (MCA). Knowing the influe...
متن کاملIntraprocedure aneurysm rupture in embolization: clinical outcome with imaging correlation.
BACKGROUND Intraprocedural aneurysm rupture (IPAR) is the most feared complication of embolization for intracranial aneurysms. Here we report the immediate and long-term imaging outcomes of IPAR during embolization and the correlation with clinical outcomes. METHODS Of the 376 consecutive patients harboring 412 intracranial aneurysms who had underwent endovascular coil embolizations in the pa...
